Infinite Convergence Solutions recently released its 2013 U.S. Social Messaging Applications Insight Study, a survey of 1,000 smartphone owners in the United States determining their preferences when it comes to using social messaging applications compared to SMS/MMS messaging. Key findings include:
- Of U.S. smartphone owners who prefer social messaging applications over SMS/MMS messaging, almost half (43%) prefer social messaging applications because they have more enhanced features.
- % of U.S. smartphone owners rank the ability to communicate with all contacts regardless of device or carrier service as the most important messaging feature.
- % of U.S. smartphone owners think mobile operator SMS/MMS is most reliable when it comes to confidentiality and secure of mobile messages. Only 6% think social messaging applications are more reliable.
The results offer valuable insight into the reasons people prefer social messaging applications over SMS/MMS, and what mobile operators can do to improve their services and expand their customer base.
