AMRITSAR: Change of mind set is the need of hour those who doesn’t keep pace with the changing technology would be lagged behind. These views were expressed by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar while speaking at the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Solutions kickoff programme here today in the Senate Hall of the University. This special programme was organized by the University for the complete computerization of academic, administration system of the University Campus, Regional Campuses, Constituents Colleges and Affiliated Colleges of the University. The responsibility of this prestigious project is assigned to reputed Company, Infinite Computer Solutions, (India) Limited.
Prof. Brar presided over this function while Mr. Ram Goel, Programme Manager, Mr. Manoj Chawla, Project Manager, Ms. Aayushi Saxena, Functional Expert and Mr. Amit Kumar, IT Infra Expert from Infinite Computer Solutions, (India) Limited were present on this occasion.
Among others, Prof. M.S. Hundal, Dean, Academic Affairs; Dr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar; Prof. P.K. Sehajpal, Dean, Students Welfare, Prof. R.K. Mahajan, Professor Incharge (Examinations), Prof. S.S. Dhillon, Professor Incharge (Finance & Development); Prof. Hardeep Singh, Professor Incharge (Placement), Deans of various faculties and Head of Departments were also present.
Prof. Brar said that the main objective of this Programme is to improve the Transparency, Internal Efficiency and Effectiveness of the system, to assist the planning process by providing relevant and timely information through Management Information System ( MIS), to provide users with Self-Service capabilities through web enabled application, to support spectrum of users like administrative, departmental, management and end users, to support advanced features like : Archiving, Audit Trail, Single Sign-on, Role Based Access, Reporting and Data Extraction features, to minimize human effort and time by providing single data entry and validation capabilities and to maintain sophisticated organizational unit’s functionality by enabling user definition of terminology (Faculty, Departments, Centers, Units, Sections etc).
He said that this University would become the first University of the Region with the computerization of the whole system of the University. He said that with this the whole system would not only speedup the process but also save the precious time of the students. He said that Infinite Computer Solutions, (India) Limited Company would take about one year to complete the whole process of computerization by passing through various phases to upload the complete data on the system which could be assessed by any client.
He said that with computerization of the whole system, the admissions process, results, students inquiry would be done with ease. He said that for example if any student of the University is sitting abroad and would like to have transcriptions and their verification of their certificates, this would be done online through this programme within few minutes.
Vice-Chancellor said that to update the faculty and employees of the University, this Company would also organize a two-three days workshop to get acquaintance with the System. With the start of this facility, he hoped that a new era would begin in the history of University.
